VALENTINES THROUGH THE AGES. Part 1.

You may have noticed our recently updated window displays featuring four fabulous outfits geared toward Valentine’s Day and going out, whether with friends or a special someone. We decided to go with the theme of “Valentines Through the Ages” to show that anyone, regardless of age, can come and experience our boutique and walk out with a fantastic new look. 

Coming down Lake Street or Howard Street you’ll see our windows have a museum-esque feel, complete with exhibits of clothes and accessories on pedestals with red rope stanchions and signage describing each work of mannequin-displayed art. Because that’s what fashion is – art.

The vision for “Valentines Through the Ages” was to show that we represent all adult ages in PEcado – from the young to the life experienced. We’re showcasing four looks encompassing ages 20 to 60+ because doesn’t every woman enjoy going out on a date? Especially on Valentine’s Day?

Flirty Femme

If you start on the Lake Street side, the first look you’ll come upon is Flirty Femme, perfect for the 20- to 30-year-old. This look is all about youth and celebrating femininity. The pink halter-style top is silky smooth and drapes nicely even when tucked in. The brilliant white skirt hugs your hips and has two length options – zip off the lower portion of the skirt and you have a shorter look, perfect for going out dancing! Pair with the bubble gum pink pumps and you’re set for an evening of fun.

Sensible Seductress

Next up is Sensible Seductress, aimed at individuals 25 to 40. With a pair of wide-leg high-waisted pink trousers, you’ll make a statement in this look! Coupled with a classic short-sleeved black turtleneck and cream-white wool coat, you’re sensibly layered for the cold temperatures yet have a touch of contemporary 1970s icon – think Charlotte Rampling mixed with Jackie O. This outfit has an elegant versatility – don it to brunch, meet up with a friend for an afternoon coffee, or head out for a romantic candle-lit dinner – you’ll look divine no matter where you go!

Marvelous Matriarch

Rounding the corner, you’ll end up on the Howard Street side of PEcado, and there you’ll meet Marvelous Matriarch. This look has it going on – head-to-toe elegance, absolutely refined. From the form-fitting simple black spaghetti strap dress to the blazer’s gorgeous shade of red, anyone aged 35 to 50 will exude sophistication in this look. And not to mention the accessories: freshwater pearl and gold jewelry and red lace-up heels. Wear this ensemble to a gala, exhibit opening, or dinner out to knock your date dead – figuratively, not literally.

Glamorous Granny

And finally, to speak to our most seasoned clientele, aged 60+, we have Glamorous Granny. Conservative and classic but with some contemporary flair, the effortless and flowy blouse hangs beautifully and can be either buttoned or unbuttoned, while the straight-cut pants are so crisp you could snap a chalk line to them. And the pink and white color combo is perfectly sweet for the holiday of love.

Now, if you fall into one of these age-range outfit categories, do you have to dress similarly? Absolutely not. For example, do you have to be a grandmother to dress like Glamorous Granny? No way! And if you are a grandmama, do you have to wear this outfit? Nope!

The best part about our window display showing examples of what to wear out on Valentine’s Day based on age is that they are simply ideas and suggestions, not the rule. The point of fashion is that you wear what you like and what you feel good in – the opinions of others don’t factor in.
